New models for wild ungulates occurrence and hunting yield abundance at European scale

چکیده

The goal of this report is i) to model the occurrence and hunting yield (HY) density wild ungulates not only for widely distributed species in Europe, but also those ones which have a constrained distribution ii) compare output with observed HY. Random Forest function was used modelling species. We data available from past 30 years, HY (period 2015-2020) records collected by ENETWILD. Like previous models based on HY, response variable maximum number ruminants annually hunted 2015-2020 seasons divided area (km2) corresponding administrative unit (HY density). Models were statistically downscaled make predictions 10x10km squares. Occurrence indicated good predictive performance most species, showing that framework proposed improved results comparison models. transferability into new regions limited exposure environmental conditions. As models, calibration plots showed linear as well Overall, our consistent expected abundance removal zeros validation datasets affected all regions, better when removed opposite evidenced distributions. conclude (i) importance co-correlation variables inferenced random forest results, (ii) manipulation presence absence locations could further improvement outputs, (iii) projections displayed patterns three frameworks approximation although it should be explored how improve patchy.

Demographic side effects of selective hunting in ungulates and carnivores.

Selective harvesting regimes are often implemented because age and sex classes contribute differently to population dynamics and hunters show preferences associated with body size and trophy value. We reviewed the literature on how such cropping regimes affect the demography of the remaining population (here termed demographic side effects). First, we examined the implications of removing a lar...

Babesiosis of wild carnivores and ungulates.

Although large and small piroplasms have been reported from various wild carnivore and ungulate species, relatively few have been named. In the past, mere presence of a piroplasm in a specific host frequently prompted naming of a new species. Descriptions were often inadequate or lacking altogether. Currently, demarcation of species relies heavily on molecular characterisation. Even serological...

A Bayesian approach to study the risk variables for tuberculosis occurrence in domestic and wild ungulates in South Central Spain

BACKGROUND Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is a chronic infectious disease mainly caused by Mycobacterium bovis. Although eradication is a priority for the European authorities, bTB remains active or even increasing in many countries, causing significant economic losses. The integral consideration of epidemiological factors is crucial to more cost-effectively allocate control measures. The aim of thi...

A New Hunting Control Method for Permanent Magnet Hysteresis Motors

Hunting is a flutter associated with the synchronous speed that gives rise to the gyro drifting errors and may cause objectionable time-displacement errors in video head wheel drives and other precision scanning systems. In this paper, dynamic characteristics of permanent Magnet hysteresis motors are presented and hunting is explained. New damping techniques have been developed using optimi...
